another dash light question
 

have no lights on dash except turn indicators, while checking for power on fuse box have none at either side of panel fuse does this get power from headlamp switch(rheostat as mentioed in other post)

Yes, that "panel lps" fuse receives power from the headlight switch rheostat.

The tail light portion of the headlight switch receives power via an orange wire that is fed from the "tail / stop" fuse. An internal connection in the headlight switch feeds power from the tail light circuit to the input of the rheostat. A dark green wire connects the output of the rheostat to the "panel lps" fuse. And a gray wire runs from the "panel lps" fuse out to all of the dash lights.

You do have working tail lights and/or power on the orange wire, correct?

If so, then yes, it is most likely a bad rheostat in the headlight switch. I think I mentioned this in the other post, but it's not uncommon for them to get a bit of dirt/tarnish on the rheostat windings. So it might be worth spraying it with some electrical contact cleaner and rotating the knob back and forth a few times to see if that fixes the problem before replacing the switch.

yes power on orange wire, took switch out windings real green tried cleaning up but still no dash lights, could i use a jumper to just check lights

Yes, you can use a jumper wire to bypass the rheostat and test the lights. If you connect the jumper between the orange and dark green wires at the headlight switch, the dash lights should be on at full intensity if everything else in the circuit is okay.
