Putting a square on a late model chassis?

Has anyone tried this yet? I don't know all the measurements. It's just something that I thought about today as a buddy of mine has a wrecked 2003 ex-cab sb with a good 5.3/4l60e that he's going to sell. I know it's fairly easy to just swap drivetrain but this is something different.

Not squares, but there are two builds in the 4x4 section that involve old sheetmetal over new iron. Both have different approaches and they're both awesome threads to follow.

That 72 with the Dmax is awesome!

A buddy of mine did something similar to the "tangerine" post but he used a Yukon Denali and a 66 Impala. 6.0, AWD Impala is sweet!
