Factory prices for 1966
So I have been doing some research on my 66 and have traced and spoken to every owner back as far as 1974 and am waiting for contact info on the owner previous to that. Not bad for a 48 year old truck. I have been able to find out that the base price on my truck was $2,104 for a fleetside long box and the Big Window was, I think, $69. This was a pretty highly optioned truck. I found out that it was a factory 327, now long gone, Powerglide, also gone, Custom Cab, Big back window. The SPID is gone so I am not sure what other options it came with. Can anyone tell me what the original option prices were? I want to trace this truck to the original dealer if I can. Kline Chevrolet, Belton. Not sure if its Belton MO or Belton TX. The truck spent most of its life in Iowa. I have no plans for full restoration but just want to know the history. Speaking to all these former owners and bringing the truck back to their memory has been real fun. When I get it complete I will put it into a thread. Thanks.

Re: Factory prices for 1966
I have all the 63 price schedules...but they are probably a little off from 66. If no one chimes in on 66 prices, I can help with 63 prices.

Re: Factory prices for 1966
Can i ask, how'd you trace back all the owners on the truck by any chance?
Run the vin through some local chevy dealers or just through the previous owner you bought it from and went from there? |
Re: Factory prices for 1966
Its a long story but its a good one. When I looked at the Iowa title from the guy I bought it from there was the name of a previous owner. I just got on google and found a number. I made the call and found out where to start. Every time I talked to an owner I tried to find out the history and who they bought it from. Since then I have confirmed seven previous owners, one of then had it twice, and spoken to most of them. There is one guy who remains unknown between last June and October who bought it with another truck and then was going to haul it to the scrap dealer. I have gotten as far back as 1974-75 and hope to reach the owner before that, if he is still with us. It has been a blast getting the history and trying to find out how this truck came from the factory.
