What to look for in a 1964 C30?

So I am going to look at a 1964 Chevy C30 tonight that will be the main part of my EVENTUAL crew cab dually. Are there any hidden areas that are know to be rusted out? I know I have a HUGE project ahead of me, so replacing a few rusted areas will be pretty small in the whole scope of the project, I just don't want to buy it just for a dually roller. It has a flat bed (that will come off, I will make a bed with fender flares), a V8 and a floor shift. The person who has it does not know much about it.

The typical areas for rust are the lower part of the front fenders, the rockers, cab mounts, rear cab corners, footwell area of the floor, lower cowl vent, and above the windshield. The hood can rust across the lower front and also at the lower rear corners.

Any where you think there may be rust - there will be.
Don't be afraid to poke in all areas (key, knife, finger nail - whatever) and to crawel under the truck with a strong flash light.

And remember, Rust builds Character!

In addition, cab supports and suspension components. Check for body filler by knocking panels- you can easily notice an audible difference.

You will be money ahead to get it for parts other than the drive train. A modern truck would be a better choice for the drive train. Modern I mean 73-91 square body.

If your getting it for other parts then get it if it's cheap enough.
