FNG Here, Hello form ND, 62 SWB fleetside Project...

Hey everyone, my name is Aaron.

I have a 62 Chevy SWB project that i got from my dad, i learned to drive in this truck. we drove it in black primer for 20 years, then the original front suspension got so worn out it got scary to drive. So then it got parked in 2000 after my dad got another pickup.

fast forward 14 years. I am now ready to tackle this project.

This truck and I have lots of memories. its always had a SBC and a manual in it, (hydraulic clutch).

I had gathered up a pair of NOS lower balljoints for the the front cause they werent available when i started looking. But after reading more and more, i picked up a 74 Parts truck, and will be using the Front suspension out from under that, so i guess i will sell the NOS Ones fo fund more of this project. i am buying the Brake Booster mount from CaptainFab, and be using S10 booster and MC, and its getting a 350 and TH350(from the 74 parts truck). I have a good windshield for it, and a Big window parts cap to do the big window conversion.

I am going to lower it as much as i can and keep it drive-able. I hope to piece all th trim together for it i can. Its probably gonna end up with a GMC Grill with some 53 Chevy Grill Teeth behind it for a little custom touch. I also have a 65 GMC hood that might end up on it.

The truck was converted to power steeting long ago, kinda farmer hacked, but it has always worked good. Only thing i havent read is how to mount hte 74 Steering box so it lines with with the subframes steering. Anyonehave some advice? i know the 60-62 frames are different.

I cant wait to get started on it. next monday its getting pulled out.

i am a Custom/Hotrodder guy at heart. i like them low, but Bags are for Groceries. =)

Not sure on the '62's, but wanted to say welcome to the board from a fellow North Dakotan. Well, former North Dakotan. Now living near Dallas and soon to move to Colorado. Lots of great, and smart guys here. Love the truck and the plans. It's great to have a family truck story like that.

Welcome to the forum Aaron :D

Sounds like you have a good plan and the trucks looks to be a good one to work with. That's cool that it has been in the family for so long and you learned to drive in it as well.

A hearty welcome from a South Dakota boy! Have fun with your truck in whatever direction you take your project and make sure to keep us updated with lots of pictures. Heck, start yourself a build thread when you get to going on it.
