How Many Have Soft Tops?
 

I'm curious to see all the K/5s with soft tops we may have here. I love them all,but a soft top sure puts a different twist on the whole K/5 thing. Sides-up is my favorite "mode". Let's see them! This includes anyone from from Canada...even of you're from Ottawa and stuff like that :cool:

I'm expecting to see pics from a certain member. I pretty much started this thread to lure his pictures out. He just got it delivered and I believe he's had rain since. We'll see soon enough. All others would be great to see...of course

haha yea i got it all right ,almost
Ordered it tuesday morn from Colorado--------to me by dinner thursday-sweet!
then rained till sat morn.
but some Fed-up express dude dropped/ripped the box open and lost the piece to join the front header together.
otherwise it looks nice,can't wait to try again!
I called sat noon,called me back @3 pm.
said don't worry,they will send another part.
got another call monday,to confirm part was sent out.
to pls lay out and send a pic of what i got to be sure the kit is complete.
so we did,but near as we can figure the small piece and screws is it.

Yeah,weather is not cooperating. We got 3.5" since last evening here in MD. I wish that flat black one had a picture with the sides up. I think it has the same roll bar I just got for mine and it would be cool to get a sneak peak at how it looks. I'm not sure if I want it black to match the wheels and the dumbo mirrors I have to put on,or maybe body color or top color...I dunno. I want to make a winch bumper and rear bumper/tire carrier and pretty sure those will be black. I've toyed with bronze hammerite powder coat for all things black,but fear that's more "refined" than what I want for it.

I got the little part last week
finally got time to install it
first the seal,
then install and bend the front header to fit.
then the 2 piece bed rails mount up.

then the support bars and straps go together,and lock in
throw the top on and start to snap it on.

wraps around the back end
measure out the bar for the back
zip it all up and seal it with a seam sealer included
I think it's great already.

Nice! Don't forget when the sides are up to use those twp front straps. I say that because I have been driving down the road when I realized I didn't recall doing it. DOH!!! I just stop and fasten them. Never had a problem,but the potential is there and it would not be good.

I have a Speciality Top Company soft top I bought used from another member for my full convertible, although I haven't installed it yet and I am not sure I ever will.

I don't like that you have to drill and install a strip on the tailgate for the rear flap to secure to. I only planned on using the top in the hottest Summer months during the day, remove at night, and reinstall the hardtop in the Winter/colder months.

I had one those STC tops before. They are nice and I hated the drill hole thing too so what I did was have a boat top guy sew in rare earth magnets into the rear flap.
Worked like a charm.

It was quite a few yrs ago (like 10-12) but think I used 5 or 6 spaced out across the flap. They were about an 1" if memory serves me right. All I did each time was wipe off the dust from the gate so it wouldn't act like sand paper under the magnets.
Top wore out before the magnets did!

Softopper uses Velcro strips.
Was letting mine settle first.
Noticed the bar sits outside the glass,if up a bit,it's seen some downpours so far, no leaks.

I didn't use the velcro with my Softopper. The bar across the back keeps it secure and dry. The top has been on since '11 and no issues with water or exhaust.
