Trailer Fenders
 

Probably not the right place for this but since i didnt see a general forum here it is. I do have a square that pulls it so maybe its close. I need to replace my fenders on my trailer I was going to build a set thats a bit more heavy duty than my previous ones. 1st pic is mine second pic I though was a helluva idea and thats what i want to build. Anyone ever seen a set or built a set? If so how did you go about it?

There's a place in Phoenix called Auto Safety House that sells hat type of fender, it looks as if he welded on angle iron and put a bolt through with a pin at the top to turn it down. Looks like a pretty good idea!

Im going to build mine out of square tubing and sheets of diamond plate. Ill probably run a bolt with some nylon or steel washers on the outside and middle between the square tubing then for the bolt closest to the trailer just have a pin that has either the check balls or cord with a lock. All kinds of things rollin around in my head now. LOL.. Maybe a shock in the middle to help raise them up.

I have a 10k trailer that is used for everything. The fenders need rebuilt on it now after about 20 years. Anyway they are made out of angle and steel diamond plate. Might not hold up for driving a truck on, but they support me and the guys. Just a thought. But if you are looking to keep a thinner fender. Exactly what I was planning on doing!! Only adding this hinge feature to keep from driving on them. This little trailer has more miles on it than all my vehicles combined so it like yours is over due for some love. and new brakes. LOL

Decent article, pretty loaded with good ideas, including swing away fenders.

I am always hauling all KINDS of stuff.

I didn't make my trailer, but the fenders were made with sheet metal and fairly thick square tubing. They're square, so they ain't nearly as pretty, but they're sturdy enough to tie down to. I don't trust them to hold a vehicle, but the fenders are certainly sturdy enough to tie a quad, motorcycle, firewood, furniture, landscaping equipment, tree limbs, garbage, you name it.

It's almost like a cell phone, you never know how convenient it is until you do it. Now that I've been tying to my fenders for years, I wonder how I ever lived without it.

Very Nice Trailer and design. I bet that thing is heavy though. I love my trailer just fenders leave alot to be desired. Easy fix though and Ill be adding some of those recessed lights to mine as well.
