DBW gas pedal installation
I'm trying to figure out how to install my gas pedal it won't fit where the original pedal was at... Did you guys are make some sort of bracket or is it something you can buy. From the looks of it the pedal has to come closer to the brake pedal otherwise it hits the transmission hump. If you can post pics of your setup that would be awesome or if there is something pre made that can be used, let me know. Thanks

Re: DBW gas pedal installation
I am using a pedal out of a 2005 truck and I cut the pedal where it started to bend. Then I heated the crooked part and straightened it then drilled two holes in both pieces and bolted them together. I am at work so I dont have pics.

The stock base fits up against the firewall just below the stock position. You can kinda see in the build pics. I basically butted the plate up under where the stud-boss for the old linkage was and mounted it in place. |

If its of any help... how I did my 1966 C10....
OEM 1966 pedal rod and spoon... welded to the chopped DBW pedal assembly. https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...09343863_n.jpg I retained the OEM foot pedal setup... https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...58301890_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...70904803_n.jpghttps://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...56869841_n.jpg |

Ok I got it installed and its pretty secure. I used the original metal bracket, I had to heat it up and beat it with a hammer to flatten out some curves, I wish I had taken a picture of it before I started because it looks nothing what it started out to be any ways here it is and please take it easy on my welds its only like the third time I ever welded but the metal bars I installed for support are on there good and quite frankly no one will ever notice
Attachment 1253689 Attachment 1253690 how it looks like mounted, sorta Attachment 1253693 added washers for clearance and support Attachment 1253694 and how it looks like mounted its pretty stiff Im happy with it Attachment 1253695 |
Re: DBW gas pedal installation
Your probably gonna want to punch me in the face for saying this; if you would have used the stock bracket as a practice piece for the welds, you probably could have just welded another simpler bracket instead.
lol, its kinda one of those "trying too hard to make things easy" situations. How does it sit flat against the firewall, with those random metal bars on the backside? If it works it works, but you've seen my posts enough here to know I'm not a pull-punches kinda guy.... If anything, I'd grind all that down and try to cut the bracket to a reasonable shape and size, as that doesn't look like its shape is a function of necessity. |

The important part is the "for now". I've sucked at plenty of things, but stupidly kept doing them. Some turned into hobbies, others just really bad habit :)

Re: DBW gas pedal installation
I used the 2006 chevy Tahoe bracket and only bent the lower tab to the angle of the floor and used a couple of spacers between the bracket and fire wall.
