Need help mounting stock LS1 fuel pump in my tank

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I have been looking for awhile now and I am not able to find a way to install the factory GM fuel pump into my tank. I am trying to avoid buying a new tank and really want to stay with the GM fuel pump. With so many of us doing the conversions you would think there would be an aftermarket mounting kit you could bolt in or weld. I have already modified the tank by welding in the filler neck and installing a baffle inside. Any help would be appreciated. Here's a picture to help clarify.

Something like this? Not sure it will work on an aluminum tank, but you could probably copy it and make one yourself out of aluminum. http://www.vetteworksonline.net/cata...products_id=89

That's perfect:metal: I think I'm going to try and copy it out of aluminum so I can weld it on. Thanks for your help!

Take a look at my build. I welded a ring to the top of the tank.

I took the rig and matted it to another tank ring and cut it out then cut a hole in the tank to remount with sheet metal screws and a good gasket. Simple no welding. It has leaked a drop since back in the early 90's when I did the TPI swap.;):chevy:

That came out really nice and looks clean! I am going to attempt to make the plates this weekend. It looks like you tapped the bottom plate with treads correct? Thanks for the help.

That definitely sounds easier to do. Do you happen to have any pics? Thanks

Thanks for everyone's help. I used some hole saws today. This is what I've done so far. I still need to drill and tap my threads and weld the bottom plate in the tank.

If you decide to make your own plates I used 1/4" aluminum plate. Cut your opening on your tank 3 1/2" so your O-ring can sit on. The bottom plate that is going to be welded to the tank hole saw ID 4" X OD 6". The top ring ID 3.50" and OD is 6".

I'm not sure. I will take a look at it. Thanks for the heads up. I did find out GM discontinued the fuel lines on the actual pump. I ended up going to my local hose place and found some lines.
