Re: rust on the c20

Yes, common rust areas. You will need to purchase new cab mounts and floor pans or make your own. (easier to purchase for most of us.) If the rust is that invasive, you will want to look at the inner/outer rockers, lower a-pillers and cab corners also. They will need to be welded in and check out about 50% of the build threads for different methods of installation.

Other common areas: hood: front, side edges and inner supports, roof lip, air vent pocket bottoms, front/rear or front fenders, grill supports, radiator supports, and the beds very. Most common issues I see with both fleetside and stepside is front bed panels, rear cross sills and the tailgates always take a beating.

It'd do you some good to look in the FAQ's section...will answer a lot of your questions and is a great resource to help any member educate themselves on these trucks and many great write ups on different projects and upgrades.

Re: rust on the c20

oh. would that floor support be the rear one?

Re: rust on the c20

4 supports for the cab....2 forward and 2 rear. They sit on the frame mounts and bolt the cab to the frame. The bushings rest between the cab mounts and the frame mounts.

Welcome to the world of classic trucks!!!! Do not let it discourage you though. Time, money, tools, experience (both good and bad) and parts will get you through it and in no particular order.

i could not agree more. there have been times where i throw tools across the yard and think about selling the old thing. but i cant do it. i have tried. the poor old thing just needs some good ol loving. with time it can and will be done!

I have owned my truck since 81 its on its second go around now...now im off to fix the rust above the w/s. good luck!! obtw measure measure measure and make reference marks before cutting out old metal

Re: rust on the c20

True, but they also make a complete floor replacement for the 67-72 and they don't for the 60-66. This would be a good candidate for a complete floor.
