Race track results

Well we made the first night without breaking anything and sorting out some issues.
Still running the 3.73 gear swapped the tire to the mickey 295/45/17 tire. New 4L80E trans. Set up the 7730 box to make recording on the WOT switch. After playing with that and sorting a rpm issue out it started to work well. With 3450 launch ( low stall is 4100) on the box, 6400 RPM up shift ( 7100 is peak) letting the trans shift. ( so leaving on the brake in low and bang shifter twice right out the gate) it made a 1.63 60 footer with a 7.33 1/8 mile pass. Now for the bad the convertor is too tight and trans brake is slow as 3 legged dog at the race track.. Will be swapping trans brake for a 3rd gear launch version and the convertor will be pulled and set up looser. The best pass was great to see the changes from the first pass of 8.43 @ 1.8 60 foot. On last pass the data log showed a 700 RPM flare when it spun the tires. just after 1-2 upshift.. SO will pull some timing on the shift point to see if that will help. Hope to have this up and going be end of week and then we can turn the two gun system on and see how well it goes from there.

Truck is still a full on street truck with full 8 foot wood bed . I hope to get it weighed soon. Any guess's on the weight??

Sounds like it as more in it , but 7.33 is pretty fast for a street truck .

It has much more in it.. That was a super super safe set up set up.. No need to get mean with the truck at this point to many things that are unknown yet. Not to mention I am running stock shocks I bought from CCP for the 4 inch drop.. that are too short and at the top of the range when sitting static, ran 19 PSI of air pressure. Carb is a new AED super comp HO out the box jetting. 6 lbs fuel pressure HA HA . 32 base timing ( running off 7730 box). Hope to get the convertor out of the truck mid week and get it looser. Will see.. I am not unhappy you are right 7.3's not bad for a 4000 lb sled ?? test and tune take it one step at a time and make sure you can back up the data and changes. Shook the tires on the last pass at 2.97 secs into the run. I never lifted let it rehook I was amazed it did hook as the dot radial most times I am told will not hook back up. I was just about ready to pedal it and try to get back in it. But it shook then rehooked but it puled it down pretty hard.

How do you like that Grid setup? Is the software pretty easy to figure out?

I love the grid but the software is just software its the normal MSD **** you have to deal with. Stuff that is unclear or can be taken two ways . We set up the tune go out and I hit the rev limiter about 500 feet down the track. There is a safety limiter set on a timer.. but the information is not telling you how it interacts with other things. But once you get the hang of that the data logger is very cool, we have it set up to recorded when I hit the micro wot switch. I like the timing controller as well I am running locked out timing and thus far no issues at all. I have the option to alter that curve with the grid is I want as well.. But it starts fine even after heat soak .. its it good leave it alone right :) Timing delays , two step step retard on 1-2 up shifts a ton of very cool stuff.

My box uses the old pro data . I like it . I also have a timing curve in mine that ramps to all the timing in by 2500 or so . I need to move to the grid system

I really thought I would need a curve but thus far on pump gas in traffic heat stop and go hot re starts tis works fine. So if I can leave it at a flat 32 I will.. If it need to put a cruve in I can its a few simple mouse clicks.

Not too shabby there Steve. Be careful how much you raise that stall with the bottle. If it is flashing to 4,100 now, it is going to pick up day 500 rpm wIth a 150 hit putt of the hole.

Also, try 15 psi in that tire.

Re: Race track results

It will not flash anywhere near that RPM its stalling to 3950 on the trans brake but I feel the stator is wrong as the convertor is not flashing for spit.. In fact once of the brake the rpm data log is almost flat until the truck gets moving then its better..So its really too tight , hence the stall vs how the stator works. truck is out of gear at 1100 RPM drop it in gear it pulls down 300 RPM .. stator at that point.. I will give the lower pressure a try as well.. Too many things that are new at this point and try to wade through it all.

Re: Race track results

Update pulling the 258 MM and going with a a 245 . That should get me into the 4200 RPM range. and I was incorrect on the 3950 .. I set it for 3950 but the RPM on the data logger showed that we where on the convertor at 3500 .. It was done... So swap it and get back to it.
