Gas pedal assembly
 

Ok so I am about to be the owner of a 1969 chop top C20. I'm picking it up fairly cheap but it needs some lovin'. The truck runs great but I need front tires and a gas pedal to get on the road. Technically I could go without the pedal but I want to go ahead and get it. So.... Where can I find one? I have done multiple searches on google but all I can find are the pedal covers. Since I am a newbie to the classic truck world I don't know the best sites to go to so I thought I would seek knowledge from the pros.

I bought one on lmc. But mine didn't come with the hardware to install it. Make sure you order both at the same time.

Also if anyone has a photo of the correct way to install it, I'd like to see that as mine just came with the arm and no pedal.

Yeah that is what mine has. Arm no pedal. I went to lmc but I only saw the pads for the pedals.

The pedal prior to 1971 is just a rubber or plastic piece. There are 2 ball studs screwed into the floor that the bottom of the pedal snaps onto, and top of the pedal just sits on the rod.

No problem. I buy a lot of parts there. Never been happy with LMC at all.

FWIW, the ball studs are usually broken off at the floor, which is why the pedal is usually missing. I had to drill mine out and weld nuts on the bottom of the floor pan to screw the new studs into.

Dang I can't believe I didn't think to check that. I will go look at that before hand so I can get the arm if need be at the same time.

The arm itself will probably be fine, and I've never looked to see if anybody sells one. But the 2 little studs usually get broken over the years and the pedal just gets thrown out because you can still just put your foot on the arm.

I learned to drive in a '69 K-10 farm truck, and I didn't know it was even supposed to have a pedal until years later.

ok so I ended up taking another look at the arm that the pedal attatches to and I'm a little confused but there is only a flat spot at the end of it where the pedal goes. Is that still the correct pedal to go on that or does the arm need a hole in it for the ball studs?

The pedal doesn't actually attach to the arm. It only attaches to the balls on the floor board. It just rests against the arm and slides on it as you depress the pedal. So, your flat spot is correct. I can post pics of mine if you'd like.

Not a problem. I did have to walk up hill both ways out to the truck in a driving Southern Louisiana June snow storm, but no problem. :lol:

Pic 3 is where the pedal attaches to the floorboard

Pic 4 is the back of the pedal, notice the shiny spot towards the top where the arm slides and the two indents at the bottom where the balls push in

It really bothers me when they turn sideways.

Oh wow yeah that makes way more since thank you very much. I went ahead and ordered it along with locking gas cap, the water seal for the kneck, window tracks, new inside door handle, new front fender wells, new radio and speakers, and replacing all the brakes. Should be here in a couple days. Last night I spent all night taking out an old alarm system from the 90s and trying to trace wires for the rear light.
