Please Help! Ticking noise just started.
Fellas,
I have a 1998 K1500, 5.7l Please help me as I have a ticking noise in my motor that just started over the weekend. On Saturday I started my truck and heard ticking, fairly loud. After just a few seconds it went away and I thought Hmmmm I wonder if all the oil drained into the pan overnight and just had to lube up the motor again. Then it happened on Sunday also. And well every time that I leave my truck sitting for a while. On my way home from work today I started it and It really only lasts a few seconds and as soon as oil pressure comes up its gone. So my thoughts are a lifter? at least one old guy said to me anyway which was kinda the direction I was leaning. So if it is can I still continue to use it? what do you guys recommend? Thanks for any help in advance. |
Re: Please Help! Ticking noise just started.
Add some Marvel Mystery oil - if you have a sticking lifter, it can help.

Im thinking what BigBlocksRule said.
Also, has the oil been changed lately? Ive seen way too many times the wrong viscosity oil caused a tick. Marvel can def help especially if "high mile" or "higher viscosity" oil was used. |
