Rocker trouble

I bought some new outer rockers for my Burb. When I got the old rocker cut out of the way and held the new rocker into place I realized that the rear of the rocker is about an inch wider that the rocker that came out. I ordered the parts from Auto Metal Direct. Is there a difference in the truck and the suburban rocker? Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you over come the issue?

Re: Rocker trouble

Back when I did this stuff on my Suburban, no one was making Suburban replacement rockers. I used PU and Blazer parts, and cut them to fit.

Even today, if I were to do it again and be able to order parts like this for the Suburban. I would be fully prepared to be making pie cuts, and trimming metal to make things work.

Most of the time I read about people here on the board, always having to cut, bend, and fit new sheet metal parts.

Yes the truck and burb passenger side rockers are different,
As far as I know they do not make a passenger side rocker for a burb, you would need to keep part of the old burb rocker and cut a truck rocker and weld the two together
Here is what I did.

I thought the fronts were the same on k5, burbs and trucks and the third door was the different one (which is made now)

Brothers lists a 3rd door rocker for 55 bucks.

Thanks for the help everyone. I have done some more research and it seems that everyone that sells a suburban specific passenger side front door rocker is actually a truck rocker. I will have to back up and punt. I have already cut the rocker out of the truck so I may have to piece some stuff back together.

I just got the inner rocker, lower a pillar and kick panel fitted in my 69 burb, working on this next. I'll try to get some pictures of how I fab it up.

The passenger door has a bump out at the rear. I'll try to grab a pic. You can use a truck rocker but you'll need to do a little surgery.
