This is a normal condition every chevy truck iv'e owned has done this.

swervin ervin 08-02-2003 10:24 PM

Mine does and I have Autometer gauges. It's normal.

crackajacka 08-02-2003 11:34 PM

mine never did.

Depends on the load (a/c, stereo, etc.) but mine does it.

You need a damping circuit on those to keep that from happening.
Chevy is not going to put one in for us!

So once you put a damping circuit for the voltmeter, what exactly would you like it to show? 13.5 volts constantly? Might as well just glue the gauge needle solid.

Cool I won't worry.

PHOENIX 08-04-2003 01:05 PM

Mine also does it, I also have autometers.

Needle bounces with sterio too, depending on the sound and amp draw.

I need a higher output alternator.

Electric fan and headlights together make my headlights kind of dim. Drives me crazy.

crackajacka 08-04-2003 10:27 PM

mine never did dance at all. my load includes a sony cdx-mp30(mp3 player), a 600 watt amp, a 12, stock gauges, the cool blue type headlights, grounding problems so the park lights work but the blinker part doesnt, plus the battery was about dry so might be a grounding problem or the gauge who knows
