1976 K20 350 automatic transfer case question
Im looking at a 76 K20 that has a 350 and an automatic, I had a 79 K10 that had the NP203 and I hated that transfer case. I was under the impression that all 3/4 ton trucks got the 205, can someone back this up? The seller isnt very informative, and i havnt gone to see the truck yet so I havnt been able to visually confirm, but was the NP205 the only transfer case offered on 3/4 ton trucks or since its an auto could it have the 203? I know with the SM465 they all got the 205. Also, since its a 3/4 ton it would have a th400 correct, not the th350?
The seller said the right rear wheel is "stuck", but other than that it runs. This would most likely just be the pads are rusted to the drum correct? Anything else to look for on a 14 bolt full floater as to why this could be? Im hoping to go see the truck today, Ive always wanted a K20 and I think this might be my truck! Thanks |

I keep finding now that all autos got the 203. Damnit.

It's not that bad if you part time it

Re: 1976 K20 350 automatic transfer case question
NP203 is a garbage case. The vast majority of 70s autos were coupled to one of those boat anchors.

Something to read http://www.chuckschevytruckpages.com/73-87specs.html Yes a k20 can be a turbo 350 if its a small block and most autos used the np203.

I know there's nothing really wrong with a 203, I just wanted a 205, but beggars can't be choosy, hoping to go see it tonight.

Well forget that, the picture showed the driver side and looked rust free and described as runs great, got there and there was almost nothing left metal on the passenger side, bondo everywhere, thing was TRASHED. Not everything on Craigslist is a good deal.

Craigslist is like that sometimes.I laugh at some adds they list for sky high prices like rust makes it worth more of something.

If you want a rust free K20 come to the desert, and have it shipped back. Shipping is about $800. Just make a vacation out of it to enjoy.
