New cab bushings---do I have them correct?

1 Attachment(s)
I found a picture in my assembly manual on how I think the new cab bushings need to be installed. Can someone take a look at the pictures and see if I have the washers/spacers/rubbers in the right order. I received three sizes of washers and two sizes of bolts.......trying to make sure I have the bolts and washers in the correct (front compared to rear) location. Here is a picture of the front cab mount with the larger bolt and the largest washer on the very bottom?

Here is the rear bushing with the smaller diameter bolt?

smaller bolts go to the rear. you have the mounts in the correct order, but the largest washer goes on the largest mount. looks like you have the largest washer on the rear top. should be largest washer on the front top with the mount you have there.

two largest mounts and washers - top front
two med mounts and washers - bottom front
two med mounts and washers - top back
two smallest mounts and washers - bottom back

also...two longer sleeves go up front and shorter ones in the rear

Re: New cab bushings---do I have them correct?

I needed to squirt a little lithium between washer and rubber a few years after mounts were installed.. It eliminated a annoying squeak. Not sure if that's recommended??
Can anyone say how much squish there should be when tightening new mounts? This thread could be related to my thread regarding a popping noise I get in rear when cornering. Maybe a couple more spins on the bolts would eliminate the pop??? My thread is "leaf spring bushings and popping noise".

64chevmn - What brand of cab mounts did you purchase?

When I tore my truck down I didn't know that I needed to save the shim/factory washer for the front mount. Could anyone possibly give me dimensions for this item? It is number 14 on the assembly instructions, also referred to as the Factory Washer I prothane cab mount kit instructions. Mainly I am wanting to get the thickness cirrect.

One other question...

Th little tube of lubricant that came with the kit, there isn't much of it.

Is there just somewhere specific, there is no reference to the lubricant in the assembly instructions that came with the kit. I am wondering, should get some more lubricant and be liberal with it to prevent any squeaks in the future????

I would be careful over lubing the rubber might breakdown faster.

thanks for posting aerotruk
I have the urethane kit, and would use a lubricant that would not interact with this material...,

more interested for now in the factory washer dimensions.

In the top pic isnt the top bushing upside down? I thought the sleeve protruding from the bushing went down into the hole in the frame/mount.

Thank you for posting, I believe you are correct.
1963C10 also notes the other corrections to the photos posted by the OP.

I am hoping someone will chime in on the "factory washer"...

The lube is for the sleeve, going into the bushing.... just a tiny bit to keep it from 'welding' itself in there over the years is all you need.

Thanks appreciate the input ptc, good to know, also explains why there is such a small amount of the lubricant.

Only question I have now is regarding the dimensions on the "factory washer" for the front mount that apparently goes between the top bushing and the cab.

Shim as needed for sheet-metal alignment.... If you have the front sheet metal still on then you can shim now if you have just the cab then snug the bolts and shim when you install fenders ECT.

Re: New cab bushings---do I have them correct?

I've had polly bushings on my jeep for years with no trouble. It does not mater how much grease you use just use a lithium based grease or a synthetic water resistant marine-grade grease. This type will not harm the bushings. Petroleum based greases will actually eat the bushing away. Done that.

I just buy a bunch of giant washers from the hardware store and shim the mounts from there. I do not think there is anything special about the factory one.
