1972 Blazer Park Brake help, please!
 

Hi guys, I have a question.

I have a 1972 Blazer which has had a '75+ 3/4 ton drivetrain swapped in.

454
TH400
NP205
10 bolt front
14 bolt rear

8" skyjacker lift

I am in the process of getting a pair of custom park brake cables made up and have run into a little problem.

On the driver's side, there is a park brake equalizer bracket mounted to the frame which holds the park brake front cable that adjusts the cable tension.

I have no bracket on the passenger side. I have searched LMC, but can find nothing on there.

Am I correct that there is a bracket on the passenger side for the pass side equalizer or is it mounted somewhere else?

It's just a triangular flat plate with a 1/2"x1" slot in it. Should be fairly easy to fab one up and bolt into those two holes in the frame.

View from top passenger side....body removed.

Looks like 10 gauge steel.. the original is riveted on
It sticks out about 2 " from the frame rail.

My 72 had a 1/4" steel loop that 1 end hooked on the frame on each side. Cable is in the photo loop is hanging on the rt and still attached to frame on left.

Thank youfor the replies! This is excellent.

I just spent the last hour replying to threads looking for the bracket just to find that they are ridiculously simple to make.

I have some 3/8 steel that I will be making one of the tonight.

my 72 didn't have that bracket, my support rod went to the elongated hole just past your red circle.

Dam...sorry 'bout the weeds...

Oh and FYI this is a '71 but it's gotta be close. I'd think that if the bracket rusted off
it could go just in the frame hole.
Cable length might be the issue....perhaps? There's some adjustment in it.
