Carl71 08-05-2003 12:53 AM

Why they start the bidding so low?

casey 08-05-2003 01:09 AM

Carl71 I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter were it starts, it will probably finish fairly high, isn't that a sweet little truck

Carl71 08-05-2003 01:24 AM

Very sweet...

bpmcgee 08-05-2003 01:24 AM

Sweet truck!

Brian

P.S. I don't need any insensitive. People say I'm insensitive enough already.

Palf70Step 08-05-2003 05:38 AM

Nice

toms68cst 08-05-2003 08:23 AM

Nice.

It just needs correct side markers.

Why did they paint the inside of the hood black??? One glaring mistake on an otherwise nice restoration.

PureChevy 08-05-2003 08:27 AM

where can i get a radio like he had in the dash with the chevy around it??

2wdBlazer 08-05-2003 08:40 AM

Post a pic. I can't view E-Bay from work.

wnc mountain 08-05-2003 09:26 AM

The underside of the hood is probably correct. Two of my trucks are black under the hood and have never been repainted or molested.

CPNE 08-05-2003 09:58 AM

OMG! The only thing better than that would be a 67 small window stepside with dog dish hubcaps in the same original condition!. :D

OMG - i sound like a mean old hag! i wasnt trying to imply that the truck was awful. ITS SWEET!!! BAD!!!! AWESOME!!!! I would love to have one just like it --- but i would like to create her myself. Otherwise, I am just some rich chic who bought a truck!

She's Sweet! No Doubt About It!

Would have looked better with an original radio IMO, very nice truck and color. And btw undersides of hoods did come in black also but not the way they did it, it looks just wrong.

PureChevy 08-05-2003 11:24 AM

thanks wes. Do those radios have outputs for a cd changer. I was thinking of running one of that style and putting a cd changer in the glove box.

CPNE 08-05-2003 11:37 AM

This is NOT to berate the truck or knitpick as she's a beauty and I think the description is honest. Couple of other things I noticed:

1. Bowtie emblems on hubcaps and fenders look gold/yellow (could be my monitor). Supposed to be red.
2. Wrong hazard switch
3. Backup lenses are incorrect. I think the 67/68 ones have a circular pattern to them.
4. Brake lines look like I bent them:o
5. Inner door panels look too padded. The originals are stiched but not with that much padding underneath.

Please do not label me with the "Corvette snob" crap, or the "Ya and the upper left rear lugnut is not correct..." response crap. I love this truck and the effort and attention it shows. Just passing along some observations and a little knowledge transfer.

jewels. 08-05-2003 11:47 AM

1. ugh! why would anyone ever paint them yellow!

2. yes! wrong switch! does anyone have a pic of the correct switch?

3. hmm - dont know (i own a stepside)

4. wow - even i can bend lines better than that, and i am a woman! ;)

5. whew! looks like a pimpin mattress on those door panels! ;)

;) jewels.

gr8scott51 08-05-2003 12:08 PM

Pimpin' mattress?

Good golly Jewels, we hardly know ya!

Injected68LS1 08-05-2003 12:16 PM

Great looking truck. That is exactly how mine looked when I bought mine. Same colors and all. That is before I completely carved it all up.

Another thing wrong:

It's a 67 gauge cluster in a 68 truck.

hmm - yeah - i was wondering about that cluster. it has the three knobs (washer, lights and choke) - but only idiot lights - so i am not quite sure. i thought 67's had two knobs and 68's had three knobs? or do i have that backwards?

is it 67 & 68's that have three knobs and 69-72's have two knobs? hmm - i have totally confused myself now. someone straighten this out.

my 68 has three knobs, and all guages (no idiot lights).

thanks!
;) jewels.

Injected68LS1 08-05-2003 12:26 PM

Yeah, my 68 has three knobs. The choke of course is just for looks now. Don't quite need that for fuel injection.

69-72 have only two knobs.

CPNE 08-05-2003 12:37 PM

Useless facts? See me

Not sure why Injected68LS1 thinks it's a 67 only unless I'm missing something.

All 67/68 clusters provisions for 3 knobs standard from factory. These were Wipers (LH), lights (LH), and Choke (RH). All 67/68 trucks had manual chokes except 327's (67/68) and 396 (68). For these trucks, their was a special choke delete plate installed (yes I have one and it's cool, sorry no pic, can do so if ya really want to see it).

In 69, all carbs were auto divorced chokes so the cluster was redesigned for 2 knobs, Lights (lh), wipers (rh).

The idiot light dash was available all years as was the guage style dash. Speed warning speedos were no longer available after 69. Some claim the blank hole on the guage style clusters could be factory filled with vacuum or air pressure guages. I've not see proof of this in light duty trucks. The same bezel/cluster was used in big trucks and these did utilize this empty hole for these type of guages. BTW, the big rigs are a great source for speed warnings and tachs. The bezel on the big trucks does not have as steep a cut out for the column to pass thru, otherwise they are the same. I think the circuit board is different because of different warning lights. But you can yank out the tach or pressue guage and make it work with minimal effort.

Other holes were drilled based on options. 2 notable ones are the handle throttle and the roof a/c on burbs. If you turn any OE bezel over you will see outlines for where to drill on them.

67/68 are the only years that used the "brushed" steel look on the bezel/gauge opening edges. In 69, they all took on the "chrome" look.

GMC's had the added bonus of color-keyed bezels. I have seen blue, red, green, and tan as well as black GMC bezels.

Jewels., does this help?
