Brothers smooth bumber ?????
 

Does anyone know any thing about the brothers smooth chrome front bumper?
I have a 67 stepside it has a painted one thats getting chiped up. I am also kinda wondering about not having a front tag the new bumper is not cutout for a front tag.

Your gonna need to check with your state [dfa] department of revenue or motor vehicles or whatever they call it up there. Each state is pretty much different on that subject. You could just walk through the nearest parking lot and see if the cars/trucks there all have front tags on them, that would be a pretty big clue. Do you have a tag on the front and back now? Does the new bumper not even have two bolt holes for at least a plate frame to bolt up to it? That is a question I would be asking the sellers. I haven't used Brothers on this bumper but on other stuff and fairly happy with it. I would say the chrome on the bumpers is pretty close to the same as long as the price is close. Jim

I think vehicles of this era only require one plate. I may be wrong but thought I've heard that before

thanks was pretty easy to do just welded the bolts on the inside cut the heads off welded were the head was 3 or 4 times grinding in between passes then mounted it and made a L style bracket put it against the side of the frame up against the inside of the bumper and tack it to bumper the took bumper off welded the L bracket the rest of the way to bumper and drill hole to add bolt cross ways on the frame so bolts strait in and then side ways never going anywhere

The front tag thing is according to state law and Maryland issues two tags. I'm sure you knew that,Mt Airy. I'm reading that you are concerned whether running w/o the front tag would be a good idea or not. I've gotten away with it on some vehicles for years,then one day one cop doesn't like it. On my '63 Riviera that never had a front tag mount I kept on rolling w/o it. Looked better that way (:cool:). That bumper looks like it has the boss for a tag,just no holes drilled. You can drill your own holes. Just drill them slow to keep from getting hot,then paint the holes if you want

Well I decided to order the regular chrome bumper from brothers . I thought about the cops screwing with me about no front tag I guess I am getting old and a little tired. I got a ticket a long time ago for no front tag

Maryland requires a tag in front regardless of the age of the vehicle. If you do not have one the fine is $150.00.
