Whos Running A LMC Top Fill Gas Tank?

I'm looking at putting this tank in my 67 Stepside. Wanted to see if other guys have used this tank before and what they thought of it? Any helpful tips with installing the tank?

I found Stacey David on Gears installed this tank.

kind of a pain if there is anything in the bed. I'd rather fab up a side fill and do the Longhornman side marker conversion

Yeah the most I will have in the back will be two small over night bags going to car shows.

I just bought this tank as well, I think you can save about $50.00 buying the flush mounted filler neck from your local marine retailer/boat shop. ask for a Moeller filler neck:

I haven't got that far as to installing this, so I'll be watching this thread. I suspect there will be any fitment issue though.
Have a good one!

That filler neck idea/source is a great idea.
I will probably go this route when I do my rear tank conversion later this fall.

I meant to say, "I don't foresee any fitment issues" instead of "I suspect there will be fitment issue" sorry..... asides from flattening out a spot in the bed to flush mount that neck, should be pretty straight forward.

The tank looks VERY similar to the one in my truck. Wish I could confirm thats the exact one, but it was already installed when I bought it and records/receipts for what was done already were a little sparse.

I have the exact filler cap in my bed, wasn't terribly hard to install, but as I said above the tank was in place already with a different filler. Had to get a slightly longer fill neck in there, mod the board a touch to fit, but otherwise was a very simple install and it looks great.

Yeah thats the fill neck I have already. I think it will work good in the bed. I just need to figure out what size to cut the hole.

Post up some pictures of the tank. We might be able to figure out which tank it is.

Found a better video. It looks really easy install.

Are the straps really needed? Or could you just bolt the tank right to the frame?

I'd like to see a smaller tank that doesn't hang down so far.

65 to 68 mustang tank. Thats what I have in mine and it looks great. Its about 7-1/2'' depth and with the bumper on you can't see the tank. Still have to place the bed on, just have to figure out how to cut the filler hole in the the bed.

Nice What did you do for a sending unit and did that fill neck come with it???

how many gallons is that Mustang tank? what happens if your get rear ended ? remember the pinto?

Re: Whos Running A LMC Top Fill Gas Tank?

I got the tank at Tanks Inc.,the rubber filler neck came with it, and the sending unit I got through CPP. Its a universal trim to fit and worked great for this tank. This tank is only a 16 gallon. But since this truck is only my weekend beater, it works well for me. As for getting rear ended, you could say the same for the LMC tank, cause it sits in the same location? Lots of these c10's have the mustang tank mounted there. I wouldn't worry..... It looks clean and neat....

"the rubber filler neck came with it" In the pic it shows the filler with blue tape on it, doesnt look rubber?? did that part come with the tank or did you have to add it. In other words did you have to mod anything other than bolting it in??, were is the sending unit located on the tank

Re: Whos Running A LMC Top Fill Gas Tank?

I removed the rubber neck, to facilitate working on the tank, the blue tape was just to cover up the holes so no dirt would get in the tank. Yes the rubber neck came with the tank. It has a hole location for the sending unit, to the rear of the tank and the pick up tube is built in the tank. In my case in particular I had to trim the bottom portion of the frame about an inch in order to slide the tank between the frame rails. In the rear, you have to drill a hole to accommodate the fuel line. You need to drill in the cross-member behind the differential. Not hard just time consuming... You also need to remove the rear cross- member by removing the rivets. You can get all the info. for the tanks at tanks inc.

Looks great..!!

Please give us another picture when the bumper is back on.

And will this work with an LS engine.? Is there something about a return line and an in-tank pump that LS guys need.?
