Wheel adapters don't fit
 

Trying to move the rears out to match the fronts. I bought 1.5" adapters, but my studs aren't long enough to reach through the backing plate. Did I get the wrong adapters, or do have to install longer studs. I say these are adapters, cause they have their own studs/bolts as opposed to spacers.

Somethings wrong, the holes should be countersunk allowing you to put your lug nuts on your studs.

Yes the picture you show is the correct spacers. The studs on the axle should go through the spacer and your lug nuts go inside the spacer so that the wheel sit tight against the spacer.:chevy:

That's what I thought...there just isn't enough stud coming through the spacer for the lug nut to bite on. Not sure if a different lug nut would be better versus the chrome acorn style. Argh...

All adaptors I've used have the holes countersunk just like an aluminum wheel, so your OEM studs should have plenty of length, sounds like they dropped the ball when they machined your adaptors. Most rear OEM studs are about 3/4" to 1" in length, you should have at least 1/2" of your stud sticking up above the adaptor

You can go to a NAPA and buy longer studs. Knock the old ones out with a hammer place the newer ones in the hole and use 2 old lug nuts to tighten them up and pull them threw the hub.:chevy:

You can't use your acorn nuts. You have to use standard lug nuts and the head of the nut will probably be flush with the end of your lug studs.

This is true and I missed it both times reading his posts. Good eye and catch. Standard lug nuts are the only ones to use for the adapter.:chevy:

..interesting. I wondered about using the silly acorn nuts, but it's all I had, at the time. I think like Andy...I just got back from NAPA with 1/4" longer studs. I did pick up 2 standard nuts, so I'll try those before replacing the existing 7/16-20x1.5 stock ones.

Even the standard lug nuts only grab by a turn or two. I noticed the hub bore on the adapter does not go over the shaft. It buts up against it. That's another 1/4". I don't think these spacers are correct.

Well, well...check CL and sure enough guy near me is selling 4 (although only need two), with the much bigger hub diameter. Now the current studs work just fine! Thanks for your help, for sure.

Glad you figured it out. Hub diameter will make a differance for sure. It needs to sit flush on the hub to be correct. In fact a little slop is better around the hub than to tight!:chevy:
