1st start
Well I got my motor in and plumbed.
I would love to start this before dropping the body back on it. This is my 1st LS build...what would I need to get the motor to start as it sits. I have the PCM and according to the guy I bought it from it is plug and ply. Fuel rails have fuel in them and he sent me a video of it running so I know it is good to go I guess I am not sure what all wires need to be hooked up or is it even worth the hassle http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psgbsdgrui.jpg |
Re: 1st start
If it's ran before I would just finish it. Hooking the radiator and all the cooling up will be rework. I would just keep on building it until it's ready to run. That way your not taking stuff back off to install other stuff. Looks great so far.:chevy:

Re: 1st start
It's easy to make it run before putting all the stuff Andy mentioned above if you just want to hear it run. Make sure the motor and trans have the proper fluids, sit a battery near enough for cables to reach. Ground everything, get power to everything and jump the starter. It will run long enought without coolant for you to feel comfortable with it, then start putting the body back together. Looks killer so far! Good luck. Re: 1st start
That frame and engine looks really nice!
If your harness is already a stand alone harness, it should be pretty simple to start. Like TwinsSpeedShop said, just hook up the wires to a battery, hook the wires from the fuel pump to it also, make sure you have oil in it, and if your torque converter is attached to the flexplate, make sure it's in Park, there's trans fluid in the trans and the lines are hooked up. Then a wire to the starter and it should start. I started mine because I wanted to make sure the trans lines didn't leak, and with the body off, now would be the time to fix them if they did. After this video, I put it on jack stands , removed the rear tires and ran it up to 50mph according to my scanner. Throttle didn't work in the video, still have to sort that out, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, thinking the cam is setting some kind of a code, but haven't looked into it just yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOqRo91FXRY |
