Edelbrock manifold questions on a 396
 

I installed a new manifold awhile back. It is a 2161. I have attached a photo of the alternator bracket problem I am having. My truck is a 69 and the bracket is a 69. Edelbrock says to use a 68 bracket and it will be fine. I ordered a 68 2 times from different sources and no difference. Whats up ??!! LOL

Also what have you guys done for heater plumbing with these manifolds? Should I drill and tap a fitting on the manifold where the stock location is ? OR any photos of your set-up?

You might post a picture of that alt. bracket by itself, so we can see, maybe have better idea what to do......

Is there only one outlet at the front of that intake which you are using for the bypass hose?
There's usually a flat area to the pass side of the bypass hose that has a 1/2" pipe tapped hole...or does yours just have a flat area w/ no hose??? picture also might help...

Yes you're right about pictures. No hole , maybe I'll drill and tap it. What have others done in this case.

May not be anything you can do but modify the bracket. I'd guess the hole in the edelbrock intake is in the wrong place, not an uncommon thing........

Could you move the temp sensor to the head to free up a port on the intake? Just a thought.

As for the hole not lining up, could it be your aftermarket valve covers getting in the way?

If not, I've done it myself before. Lots of drilling and tap itself usually isn't cheap. Not a bad job though, although mine was on top and not on the end.

I've always used the two holes already in the intake. One you have your temperature sensor in and I can't tell what you have in the one on the drivers side.
Run the passenger side hole up to the bottom of your heater core. Return line from the core back to your water pump. You have a plug in the pump for that.
On your bracket just cut the ear off the bracket. Make a new one with a bolt hole or splice a short piece in between. A little welding, grinding and paint and you're done.
