Stepside find

Went out to a friend of mine's family land and saw this. Figured yall could appreciate it. His dad went to the scrapper and they were about to crush it so he took it off their hands. Rockers are solid, bottom of front fenders are bad like most of them are. Other than that the truck is solid.Attachment 1279992

Why is it in the weeds? Should be in the driveway!

Re: Stepside find

Yeah he got it about a year ago and says hes gonna do something with it but hes one of those guys that says that about everything. He has tons of stuff scattered throughout his property that he "plans" on doing something with. I bought a 57 4 door from him a few years ago that had been sitting for 20 years. It had been parked for 20 years just because it had a leaky transmission...Anyway, back to the truck, the interior is complete and all stock. Still has the 3 speed on the column. The old straight 6 is still there but alot of the pieces are missing.

It deserves to be 'gotten up' if for no other reason it's already got the big back glass...yes, a stepper with a bbg!!!

This forum might start a "SAVE 'EM" association where we all chip in, buy such as these, and store them properly until a real lover 'retrieves' them. Kinda like a dog-pound?:mm:

Looks like a 62 if the badging is correct on the fender extensions.

Yep that's typical for Texas collectors.
While seraching for mine, I ran across dozens of good old boys that had grand plans for their stuff that refused to sell. Only to watch them fade away more evey year to the tin worms.
Never could convince any of them that getting cash for a couple of their treasures may give them the resources to fix up the rest.

Yep exactly, the guy says this truck isnt for sale right now but im pretty sure in a few months when it hasnt moved i can show him some cash and he will take it. I like that its a short stepside with the big back glass.

Very nice find, and thanks to him for saving it. If it were mine it would be in the garage and a new car would be sitting out!
