One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
It seems like GM made styling and mechanical changes every 2-3 model years,
but what are some interesting one-year-only options and parts in the 67-72's? This is just to make an interesting discussion... Some of the ones we have so far include: 1967- fenders and bedsides without side markers 1972- plaid interiors, new door panels 1967- exterior door handles 1967- GMC grille and emblems 1970- factory saddle tank 1969- inner grille 1967- cigarette lighter, ignition bezel, vent window handles 1967- small back window, interior paint could be different from exterior paint 1972- rear view mirror on the windshield, associated changes with the cab roof above the windshield 1972- screws at base of wing window frames 1967- ridged knobs, inside door handles, crank handles 1967- glovebox door texture same as gauge cluster bezel 1967- fold forward seat, vent window assembly 1967- ashtray, horn button 1968- horn button 1970- dark bronze paint |

|
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
One that comes to mind is the 1967 GMC grille and emblems.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
To expound on Tinker's post I think it's exterior door handles on 67. Cigarette lighter on 67, ignition bezel on 67, and vent windows handles on 67. In 67 the interior paint wasn't necessarily the same color as the exterior paint.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Inner roof between sunvisors smooth on 72 after they moved rear view mirror.....often thought that was peculiar for them to retool that metal for 1 year only subject to next years total body change.......72 only they put screw in door for vent window...finally took care of 6 year rattle!...jim

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
67 has ridges on the knobs like a quarter. 1 year only
Also inside door handles and window crank handles are different. Texture on the glove box door like a guage cluster on a 67 Fold foward seats on a 67 No hole for the knob on vent windows on a 67. So vent window assys are 1 year only. Vent handles were used on 64-67. Ashtray is one year only on a 67 I love showin off:D |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Horn button on 67 one year only.
Even Though the 67 is the new body style, many things are a hold over the 66 body style. Like the fold down seat |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Dark bronze paint, one year only on the 70
|
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
1 Attachment(s)
67-68 GMC gates had smaller stamping template.
|
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Buddy buckets on 67 fold forward, 68's don't.
|
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
71 only had a raised area on the inner roof panel where the rear view mirror bolted to the roof. 67-70 were flat where the rear view mirror bolted to the roof, and 72 the rear view mirror was attached to the windshield.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Not 100% sure on this, but maybe someone can chime in, Navy Blue and Maroon interior colors were 69 CST only...

Probably the easiest way to see what is single year stuff though, is just to look in a catalog, because after a couple of pages of this thread, people aren't going to be able to keep track of the posts in here anyway. ;) |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Maybe the OP can start listing these in the first post to keep track of them.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
I could be wrong but door handles were the same except for 67 which can accept other years
72 yes door panels and arm rests are different as well as windshield mounted mirror. Not sure on window regulators I think they are the same through tout the generation |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
In '67 two-tone the top color stops at the drip rail.
In '67 the wing vents had different latches the didn't require a hole in the glass. In '67 interior paint color went with interior trim color In '67 buddy buckets were standard on CST/Super Customs In '67 buddy buckets had flat wide pleats. In '68 buddy buckets had narrow pleats with a bolster around the outer edge. In '67 the wheels were painted black and hubcaps were white In '68 the wheels were painted black and hubcaps were argent In '69 the wheels were painted argent, hubcaps & bumpers too In '72 the below eyeline mirrors were different from 69-71 In '71 Cheyenne Super & Sierra Grande glovebox emblems had no scroll. In '72 they had scroll. In '72 a side auxiliary tank was offered. In '70 a rear auxiliary tank was offered. |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
I believe the rear tail light trim option in 67 was the eye brow only where as years after were the whole light trim and only top bar for tail gate trim where as following years had the bottom trim as well
1967 was only year 283 available 1969 gmc the only v6 option was the 305 they discontinued the 351 v6 after 1968, although special order was still available til early 1970 for the 351 1967 had no big block option |
Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
If I am not mistaken, the 71 is the only year for black anodization on the outer grill section.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...
Not sure why people are saying the fold forward seat was 1967 only. My 1971 C10 had the original fold-forward bench seat with the dealer papers stuffed into the back of the seat when I bought it in 1986.
