I'm back in another square

Well I haven't had a square in awhile. Being on this site and seeing all the awesome squares made me want to get back in the scene. Then I came across this truck on craigslist. I had to jump on it. I am the 2nd owner. Truck is in pretty good condition. 305 motor automatic. I'm real excited to drop it and put some rallies on it. I also picked up a set of rallies with beauty rings and center caps for $125. So I'm back . Here's a couple pics.:metal:

What model year is that one?

Out of curiosity ;) are there holes to hold the adhesive side molding on, just before and after the rear wheel opening on the box side?

I'm really digging the way corvette rallies from wheel vintiques look. Some 15x8 in front and a 15x10 in the rear. Anyone have any pics by any chance

That's exactly what we're running on my dad's '87.

IF you decide to go that route, you'll have to order new trim rings and center caps. Despite what Jegs & Summit Racing say on their website, your factory rings will not fit. Another member here, Malo, is running the same wheels too. His truck is really slick and he's lowered it. Maybe he'll see this and post a pic of his ride. GTT

That's what I'm wanting. So you got the 10" wheel out back then? Where can I pick up a set of wheels like that? What size tires you running? Sorry for all the questions. Your truck is sweet. It's just right. Thanks in advance for any info

OK Rollins, here's what I did. Mine are Wheel Vintiques 37 Series, bolt pattern is 5 by 5. I ordered (2) 15x10 for the rear with 5 inch backspace from Jegs. At that time, they had 15x8 for the fronts on backorder, so I ordered 2 of those with 4 inch backspace from Summit Racing along with the derby center caps. There are lots of centers available to choose from and they all had free shipping on orders over $99.

Their websites both say "your factory accessories will fit" which is partly untrue. Factory trim rings WILL fit the 10's but WILL NOT fit the 8's. I had a small feud with them back in September of last year because of this. If you do decide to go with trim rings, that part number is 3002-A-1. Those fit real nice and cover the shoulder of the rim.

Now for the bad........several members on here have bought these wheels and were noticing rust forming around where the inner and outer parts of the wheel were welded together. I am noticing that on only 1 of my wheels. The other 3 are fine. I think, if I could go back, I would have had the brand new wheels powder coated as soon as they arrived before mounting them. You can get it done most places for $50 per wheel. Yes, it adds $200 to the cost of your wheels, BUT if you keep them clean you won't have to worry about rust.

I got my tires from Expertire here in my hometown, just before they went out of business. I actually wanted BFGoodrich, but a sale is a sale and I've been happy with the Primewells. Front are 235/70R15 and rear are 275/60R15.

*If you'll get in the grey box above and search Wheel Vintiques 37 Series, you'll see lots of pics with different centers and tire sizes. Hope this all helps, my dad gets lots of complements on his truck and so far, it's the ONLY one in town with those wheels on it. Good luck with your truck. GTT

In this pic it looks like a single hole just behind the wheel opening right on the two tone paint line . Is that a hole in the coved portion ? If so is there a matching hole in front of the wheel well in the same location on the paint break line?

Sorry for the small pic. I tried to crop it on my phone. I am looking at a spot directly in the center of the cropped picture I posted

It is. I think the side molding was coming of and the P.O screwed tiny screws back in to hold it together. I also seen a few small clips. I'm guessing their the original clips for the molding. It's crazy cause the paint lines between both colors ain't to straight but didn't see it till the molding was off. The P.O told me it's still the original paint job.

Could be; the paint line doesn't need to be too straight because it gets covered by the molding.

The door, cab and box don't look too bad.

The fender is painted separately, about a 1/2 mile away from the rest of the truck, so it makes sense the paint line is not perfect there.

Thanks keith. It's actually really straight. Nicest square I've ever had.
