Age old question aka what do you look like 47-59 style

Alright, I find myself always gravitating toward crusty old farts, with all due respect, they just have better stories to tell and lived in a time when America was proud and stood tall, of which, I am jealous.

Its always nice to see whose who and how old folks are.

Post a picture of your ugly mug and age, I will turn 40 this year and feel like my back is 30 years my elder!!!

Just purchased this cool ass old Swingster Michelin jacket on ebay for a 20 spot. Don't think its ever been worn.

4th of July this year in Park City KS with my cousins. I'm in the black shirt no hat,
I am usually behind the camera instead of in front of it.
The guy in the Cap is my Cousin John who was one of the "tall Stahls" in Chula Vista if you are in your 60's and crew up there. The Gal is our cousin Karen.

Well, OK, I was born in 1945, and my truck was born in '55. Both of us in Los Angeles, Calif. USA! Needless to say, the truck still has its looks, but both of us are feeling our years. Me having swung a hammer for 49 years(carpenter) and the old TF doing 'Lord knows what' all these years....

AD, your truck is flat killer. How is the metal work coming along these days? I read your journal over at the Hot Rod forum, great tech on the flexible shape patterns. Would love to put that to practice.

Thanks Sqrints- Come on to the MetalMeet gathering in Oblong in October and you can use flexible shape patterns with some expert tutoring...not me by the way. :)

Hahahaha, OrrieG!!! Great pics man! Swilling the old Banquet beer I see. I also noticed some clever censorship going on in the backround.....

Did that picture pass inspection back then or would you have to hide it?

I was a platoon leader and got a room with 3 other guys and a locker, it was exempt from inspection, but I had to keep my footlocker in good shape just like everyone else. Beer was sent to the guy with me in a box of laundry detergent. Only other time we got anything that did not come out of the mess hall was Saturday afternoon for half an hour when we went to the PX to get a haircut and all the beer and crap we could inhale in 30 minutes. Spent Sunday cleaning up the aftermath.

Actually that was only the second time in my life I had been in Kansas. My Gal cousin lives in Park City along with my aunt and I and my other cousin had gone there for a family reunion and birthday party for my aunt and cousin. Command performance type of thing.

I'll be back down that way when the truck is done though as I plan for the Lonestar Roundup to be it's first road trip and then a trip to Salina for lead sled .

Good pics everyone. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only old f@rt that refuses to grow up and still plays with toys. Here's a couple of old pics of me and some of my old projects.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...ps3293dfff.jpg

I paid $35 for the 53 Plymouth coupe like it is in this pic. I told my wife that I had bought this car while we were on our honeymoon and had to go get it when we got home.

The 47 Ford truck is about ten years and two kids later. I paid $165 for it but it didn't look at all like the pic. Two bad patina wasn't cool then as it was covered with rust and dents.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...ps7331bccc.jpg

The next one is about 1981. It's a frame from a 53 Ford F100 that I restored and sold almost immediately when I finished it. I had the entire body dipped to remove the paint and any filler that it had. I bought a new house and decided I wasn't going to have time for the truck for a while.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...psf5189f90.jpg

Last one is me when I bought my truck about four years and about $18K ago. I'm 73 now so this might be my last project. I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon but you never know. I told my wife this is my last old truck, and she said this is your third or forth "last" old truck.

Re: Age old question aka what do you look like 47-59 style

I was born the day before Apollo 11 left Florida. As I grew up there were still plenty of things made in America, factories were busy, space travel was expected to become commonplace, and Toyota, Subaru, and Datsun cars were struggling to attain the same consumer status as the Pinto and Vega. All young school children had to practice hiding under the desks once per year, we had to know where the bomb shelter in the school was, and we learned about what happened if a nuclear bomb was to explode on our soil. The Laser disc had no chance of beating Betamax video tapes, you wouldn't dream of A/C on a school bus, and the first CD player wasn't far from hitting the consumer market.

This is circa 1985. I'd managed to put together a mostly complete Trail 90 from a box of parts during a summer vacation near Nine Mile Falls, WA.
http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/s...sPlace1985.jpg

Next is about 1992. Working for the phone company back when no one asked "Which one?" You can see the reflective glow from the blue and yellow stripes on a truck in the background.
http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/s...n/1991_NET.jpg

2000... back in New England after after 6 years in MT.
http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/s...Cruise2000.jpg

2001, pit row at NHIS with our vintage racer. That was supposed to be easy racing compared to when I did the real thing but the old cars had fewer rules than the current classes of the day so we were even more competitive.
http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/s.../NHIS_2001.jpg

Today. Not as much time for car projects with these two taking most of my energy.
