Is it okay to put a drain plug in tranny pan?
Any recommended type of bolt for this?
Would reinforce pan for tapping threads.

B&M makes a great drain plug kit and I don't think it is too expensive. It also has a magnetic tip to catch the metal to pull it out of the oil. Jim

With the pan off you could also get a oxygen sensor threaded fitting the bit the sensor screws into most exhaust will have these very cheap drill a hole to suit and weld in fitting iv used this method for repairing striped threads on engine sump plug holes just make sure you use a copper or nylon washer on the plug :metal:

My aftermarket pan for my turbo 400 came with one in it.

I just installed one on my 700R4. I picked it up from Oriley Auto for under 10 bucks. Drop the pan, drill a hole in it, screw the new drain plug assembly together, done.No welding required. B&M and Dorman part looks identicle. Dorman part #326-65128. You should be able to pick on up at any auto parts store.
