What about a compact spare tire
On my 2 door Tahoe, the spare that was bolted to the side is long gone. I imagine this happened when the air management was installed, since it's in the back and takes up a lot of room. This is my daily driver and I feel a bit weird about not having a spare tire. I was thinking maybe I could find one of those compact temporary spares and maybe find a spot for it in the back.
Problem is, all the spares I can find seem to be for the 5x4.75 bolt patter. Anyone know of a 5.5 bolt pattern car that came with a compact spare tire? |
Re: What about a compact spare tire
I was told the Caprice from about 89 and up used a 5 x 5. I need to check on that for my pickup,if i get to u-pull it I will post it.

Re: What about a compact spare tire
I have a spare from a 1991 Caprice on my 1989 pickup. I hate the way a fullsized spare hangs below the bumper. A friend gave it to me to put a fullsized spare in his car.

Re: What about a compact spare tire
Thanks ,thats what I need, I will be putting the receiver up into the frame and it will also be slightly forward of its factory location to hide behind the license plate. The original 235 spare will not fit then, I hope a compact spare will. Thanks again

Here's mine. And compared to the 275/60/15 it replaced.
