Moving engine forward

I have a 71 Jimmy 89k original miles. converting to a 1ton. Just wondering has anybody moved the engine forward 1-2" just to gain firewall space. It is currently the original 350.

Re: Moving engine forward

Quite a few have moved the engine forward not for firewall space but usually for a tranny swap to get overdrive either auto or manual. 2 inches is usually the max required for that purpose. The only potential issue would be contact between the engine xmember and the front diff if the pot is bigger than a dana 44 and your running stock ride height with a high amount of deflection.
