Correct backspace
 

I've been looking but having no luck with finding post on getting the proper backspacing on new wheels. My truck is an 87 Silverado with a Belltech 4-6 drop. The truck is completely stock right now, just the static drop. I'm looking on ordering a set of 20" Budniks, but I don't know what the proper backspacing or most common would be. I see that 20x8.5 & 20x10 seem to be the most common widths. What do you guys with 20's or bigger have for backspacing? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :ito:

I purchased my rims from bigwheels.net. The guys there were super helpful. Let them know how you have modified your ride, and they will help ensure that the rims you get will fit. I bought some American Racing Nova Rims. They are 20x8.5. Their vehicle selector on their site gives you a ton of info on your ride, including you min and max offset. They even price matched ebay.

Please don't laugh at what you are about to see. After I put on my drop spindles on, my 15's wouldn't fit anymore. Rather than spend money on rims that I didn't want, i went ahead and got the tires and rims I wanted. Engine has come first, and body will come next. Without further ado:

Backspacing can be different from truck to truck but mine is 20x8.5 with 5.25bs & 20x10 with 5.5 bs & I have been happy with the look & fitment.

Thanks its around a 5/7 its been tweaked it a little to get it a little lower.

I wanted to keep the factory inner fenders in it. The tops of the tires are about 2-2.5 inches from the inners in front but don't rub.

My advice would be to ask someone who is running the wheels/drop combo you're looking to get. Here's my old square.

My wheels are Eagle 20x8.5 fronts with 255-40/20 toyo proxes STII tires and 20x10 with 295-40/20 toyo proxes STII rears. 4.5" backspace front and 5.5" backspace in the rear.

My lowering kit was 2.5" spindles and 2" springs front and a flip kit for the rear, but it dropped it more like 5.5" front and 6.5" rear. Everything's from McGaughy's. Here's a link to the 4.5/6" kit I bought:
