What size intercooler fits in a 1970 C10?

I know a few of you guys have done turbo builds. Where are you sourcing the intercooler? What size fits up front?

1970 C10, getting a 6.2L, BW S400, 4L80 and 9"

No intercooler...didn't have the room.

Meth injection.

You should have room between the core support and grille depending on if you have a trans cooler and or condenser.

Assuming it is a street truck you can go Wasted Incomes route depending on your boost level and if you don't mind filling the meth tank often.

There is plenty of room in front of the core support. I put one from CX racing on eBay between the core support and grill. Almost ready to fire it up for the first time. I put my trans cooler under the truck with a electric fan. No ac.

I'm curious how often you think I fill the meth tank? I have a 1 gallon tank with twin Holley 1000cc nozzles run progressively...I only have to fill it up every 2-3 weeks depending how often I drive it and what shenanigans I get into.

From a "space" aspect, I kind of wish I'd stayed with a 69+ front clip, but from a looks standpoint, I'm glad I went with the 68. I'm all out of room up front with the trans cooler and A/C junk up front.

This kind of gives you an idea of how tight it is behind the grille on a 67-68 grille with A/C and stuff.

Wasted I would have guessed a week or 2. It all depends on how much boost you run, how often your are blowing the tires off and the ambient Temps of course.

I know on my nbs with an intercooler and one gallon tank running about 10 to 12 lbs on the street and acting like a fool with it I filled mine every 3-4 weeks.

If you don't have the room you don't have the room and meth is a good substitute is all I was saying.

Looks like Vibrant makes one that fits right behind the grill, already have it coming.

Junkie do you have the dimensions? Or a link to the one you ordered?

Thanks. That was right after I got it going again this year...before the inner fenders were in, before the meth was installed, and before I built my aluminum downpipe.

The manifold fits pretty well. It's tight for me, but it's because my truck used to be a 4x4 and the frame kicks up about another inch in the front, pushing the engine up toward the hood.

BTW, i didn't realize that Custom Classic Trucks was doing cool stuff like that. Last issue I looked at years ago, they were still all about c-notches and shaving marker lights. lol.

Wasted does your crossover pipe sit below the frame rails? Also is your s480 a T6 flange? I am a little ways away from doing mine but worried about the room I will have sitting on a dropmember.

Ya same here that was the most useful thing I have seen from Custom Classic Trucks in a few years. Thanks Junkie!

The Cummins swap guys manage to make the Dodge intercooler fit.

Yes, it does...on the driver side. Yes, it's a T6 S480. I think you'll be fine. I'm sitting on a NoLimit WideRide IFS and it has a bunch more room than the last turbo LS C-10 I built.

Sweet, but that's a 69+. The 67-68 shoves the grille about 1.5" closer to the radiator. Clearly it can be done, per junkie's link, but everything gets a lot tighter, especially with a bunch of extra chit up there.

Good to know, I will be running the S475 with a t6 flange so that is good to know. Maybe I should look at your build thread ;)

If you wait long enough, it might be for sale. I have a bad habit of re-doing my turbo setups every year or two. The AC mount is a custom one-off deal. The Kwik performance street rod bracket is about the closest to mine...but wasn't available when I built my setup.
