The Ididit column has been the easiest upgrade in my experience.

Re: What is the best aftermarket steering colum?
I have an Ididit column in my truck; the column is a nice fit and looks good.
You may have to swap or modify your intermediate shaft and a stock steering wheel will not fit a ididit column so allow a bit of extra budget just in case you do need to buy additional parts. If you want a tilt column be aware that the tilt mechanism adds about 4" to the length of the column inside the cab. So the steering wheel will be closer to you regardless of what brand tilt column you fit. In hindsight I would have put a standard column back in my truck as I had to make a few compromises. My truck has an aftermarket seat in it that sits higher than the original seat. The after market seat combined with the extra length of the column and a grant steering wheel with nearly 4" of dish means I find it a bit cramped as I'm 6'2" with long arms. I will swap out the steering wheel for one with less dish to give me a bit of extra room but otherwise I'm happy. I think the flaming river tilt column will still allow you to run the stock steering wheel want that option. Keep in mind a OEM Chev tilt column rebuilt by Kev's Classics is a really good option too. |

Re: What is the best aftermarket steering colum?
yeah for sure, link below is form my build thread
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...0&postcount=27 doesn't show the intermediate shaft but my truck had a worn out 70's van tilt column in it when i got so the shaft wasn't the stock one anyway |

Re: What is the best aftermarket steering colum?
For a long time I wanted a Flaming River column, but when it came down to spending money I went with Ididit. I don't remember all the specifics of what deterred me about Flaming River, but I think it added up to cost a lost more money than the comparable Ididit version.
