Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
I'm doing some work and need to the proper nomenclature of how the 73-87 trucks were named.
78-87 Chevy 2wd = C-10 GMC 2wd = ? Chevy 4wd = K-10 GMC 4wd = ? Chevy 4wd Blazer = K-5 (same for 2wd?) GMC 4wd Blazer = ? |
Re: Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
IIRC,
GMC 2wd = C15 GMC 4wd = K15 Not sure about the Blazer one (And I may not be correct about the other two either) |
Re: Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
It varied a little bit, because of Marketing speak.
A couple iterations, based on model year: 78-87 Chevy 2wd = C-10 GMC 2wd = same Chevy 4wd = K-10 GMC 4wd = same Chevy 4wd Blazer = K-5 (same for 2wd?) GMC 4wd Blazer = same - or - Chevy 2wd = C-10 GMC 2wd = C-15 Chevy 4wd = K-10 GMC 4wd = K-15 Chevy 4wd Blazer = K-5 (same for 2wd?) GMC 4wd Blazer = K5 -or - Chevy 2wd = C1000 GMC 2wd = C2500 Chevy 4wd = K1000 GMC 4wd = K2500 Chevy 4wd Blazer = K-5 (same for 2wd?) GMC 4wd Blazer = K-5 The physical configuration of the truck itself was the same in each case. In terms of the engineering model numbers they were always the same between Chevy and GMC. K |
Re: Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
I see... so calling a GMC a C-10 is still technically correct?

Re: Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
Let's not forget the R10 and V10.

Re: Need some help with proper names (C-10 etc)
73-86 chevy is 10, 20 or 30...C for 2wd K for 4wd. GMC is 15, 25 or 35...C or K like chevy.
87-91 is 1500, 2500, 3500. R for 2wd V for 4wd |
