Need guidance on lowering truck
 

Hi everyone im new here and just bought a 68' c10 long bed with a 350 in it. I will eventually bag it, but in the mean time I want to know what the best route in getting it ready or lowered. Do I do spindles in front? If it makes a differnce Ihave drums front and rear. thanks everyone

All depends on how low you want to go and price . Cheapest would be springs .

no matter what you want you will need spindles in the front.

your brakes doesnt matter for lowering.

get your bags and get it dropped..its only money

im shooting for 4 in front and 6 in the rear.

so it looks like i will be needing spindles regardless of thebsetup. whats is a lowering spindle or differnece betweeen jst getting lowering coils? and wheres the best place to buy them?

Early classic enterprises makes kits for our trucks, that's what ill be using, although you'll have to upgrade to front discs if you use their spindles. Drop spindles move your arm up however much to actually move your wheel up (lowering your truck over the wheel). Drop coils just drop the suspension however much they are rated for, so 2.5 drop spindles and 2 inch drop springs would lower the truck 4.5 in total. For the rear use blocks and springs to move your rear axle up (again drops the truck around your wheels). Please correct if I'm wrong however :lol:

You don't "NEED" drop spindles up front. They are preferred for sure, but you will likely have to do a disc swap at the same time. I don't know of a drop spindle that will allow you to use drum brakes, so your brakes are important in that case.

Drop spindles will give you 2"-2.5" drop, depending on which style and company you buy from (I think CPP's modular spindles are 2", but their standard drop spindles and other companies are 2.5") This will keep your ride quality the same since your will be able to use the same springs and shocks. If you want lower, add drop springs, and possibly drop shocks (usually for 3" or more drop spring).

As for the rear, a drop block will be similar to a drop spindle... allowing you to keep a better ride quality, but I would not recommend more than a 2" block. Go with drop springs for the rest of the drop you want, and add shock relocators to give you a good angle on the shocks.

Drop springs will give you a harsher ride the more drop you want. So a 2" spring and 2" block will give a better ride quality than a 4" spring alone.

For that amount of drop, you can go static (no bags), which would be much simpler. It's been done a million times and covered well, just do a search and you'll turn up enough info to keep you busy reading for a night. Good luck!
