Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
Well,
I was moving through the bone yard today and noticed a door seal that looked like it would fit the burb. Got a couple sets and fit them to my burb and it was like someone was thinking about the burbs 30 years later. These fit perfect with the corner of the doors and you do not have to cut them at all. They fit the whole frame to a tee......I should be able to cut set and make them fit the third door with no problem...... Lets see how much interest before I let the cat out of the bag...... Smitty |

Sounds to me like you are trying to drum up interest to make a sale. Mods will drop the hammer, use caution.

I have been on here too long for that......The only sale will be folks going to the junk yards....

Found a set yesterday, $32. Fit like a glove. Took me less then 10min. to change them out. Time for a water test. Thanks for the tip!

I went to the local pick-n-pull today to try a set but every one was hashed. They do look like they would be a great fit though. Looks like plymouth voyagers of that era would also work as well as caravans.

Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
Wasn't there an old thread that old Chevy S-10 was the same type of a clip on gasket that fit as well?

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=632092 I have the S10 on my driver door but I'm looking for something better. The miters (self cut & glued) aren't too good. The mfg is working on a creating a press on for the burb but not expected til the end of year last I heard. |
Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
So far so good. It rained in seattle last week & I didn't have any leaks but it wasn't a hard rain. I'll report back after I take it thru an automated car wash.

Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
Can someone post up some pics of the gasket? Maybe a short video of the install? I am very interested in this....like a lot of people I would imagine. Thanks guys!

Yes, in the truck forum some claimed Dodge Dakota seals were an excellent fit. I tried it and gave up. They bent my window frame and wouldn't allow the door to close.

Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
So I took these pictures at night, and while I havent got a rain test yet (soon enough, big front coming through) I like them already. I do have a few niggles though;
First off they fit great with no extra length or spots that wont hug the seal flange. However, the 90 degree in the rear upper portion is perfect but a good mitered cut at the front upper portion would make them a perfect fit (of course one could simply make the cut..). All photos are of the passengers front door opening. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...psfc634ad7.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps3bc4dfc6.jpg And on the inside the chrysler had a piece of plastic trim that the outter portion of the seal covered to give a clean look. Of course our trucks dont have this so we dont need the little extra rubber "flange". Again, you could just cut it off. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps5d191cd0.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...pscc880558.jpg Finally, .. thats it for niggles ha. They fit great and flush up right where the door hits, of course the ones I got, and I didnt realize this til I got home, were ripped up the seam on the door opening side so they dont fit perfect all the way around. However heres a shot of the top of the door opening with the door shut. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h...psedf7009b.jpg Again, great spot thanks to MeanGreen -Webb |
Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
So these literally are a true push-on installation? No glue needed? Great mod!!

Re: Perfect One Piece Push On Door Seals For Burbs
Just asking. Should the flap on the strip go toward the outside ? Otherwise, what good is it doing?
