4 core radiator

Can someone tell me what models have the four core radiators? Mine had one in it when I bought it. I think the previous owner said it was out of a diesel. Did they come in 3/4 or 1 ton trucks? My truck is an 85.

Strange you had a 4-core. I bought a HD 3/4 GMC new in '85 with the optional "heavy duty cooling". Turns out to be a 5 bladed fan instead of 4. Radiator itself was a 2-core. Finally replaced it with a 3-core a few years ago, that was the biggest I could find.

Re: 4 core radiator

SPI# CU730 if you need a radiator number. Diesel is the most common, but not all of them had the 4core. Note: New SPI "4 core" is now an aluminum/plastic 2 row super core. (No complaints with it. If anything, build quality is better than the spi copper brass cu730 it replaced).

1981 454cid Blazer is what I used to get the rubber isolators & upper brackets for the 4core.

Re: 4 core radiator

All diesel trucks I believe were factory 4-core as well as all big blocks and 400SB trucks from 73-80. I parted out a K20 awhile back but nobody wanted the perfect OEM copper/brass radiator from it so it's going in my 86 K10 with a massive 6000 CFM dual 14" fan assembly I'm mocking up. I couldn't find an aftermarket one with the right dimensions for aluminum so I'm going with old school radiator for the helluva it.

77 c30 had a 4 core, my buddy's 86? K10 with a 6.2 was 4-core...

Re: 4 core radiator

My 86 K20 350/TH400 had the 4 core radiator in it. I was having some issues with the truck running warmer than it should have been. pulled the radiator and it was all plugged up at the core tube ends. I found the original replacement but did some research and decided to go with an aluminum radiator. the replacement Spectra told me was a single core. I told them there was no way going from a 4 core to a single core was going to keep me engine cool and i told them also that i pull a 5th wheel camper with the truck, have working a/c condenser and tranny cooler. I have to say I have not had a cooling issue yet. I was very surprised.
