Step side body side molding
 

Ok since I tried search nothing comes up, on my spid I have an option # 4B8*** can't make out to the rest, says body side molding, I only got interested because I'm in the middle of sanding the drivers side door and noticed someone filled holes in. It's about equal with door handles maybe a little lower and goes straight across the door. Anyone see this before or heard of it as a option on a stepside 1969 short bed?

I'm a bit out of my swim lane here, since I'm a squarebody guy, but I'm not aware of any body side moldings available on a stepside.

shows a BX2 molding available on fleetside pickups and utilities. It also shows a B85 available separately or included as part of BX2.

The RPO consists of the three center alphnumerics; you may disregard the leading "4" and the last unknown characters for the purposes of this discussion (ie "4B85AB").

Any chance your truck was originally a fleetside and the bed got swapped?

I'm pretty sure it's always been a stepside, only because each layer of paint I've removed has been identical to what's on the bed all the way down to metal, the funny thing about this is it's only a top molding doesn't look to ever have a lower molding. So about equal to the door lock and looks to be like it continued to down the fenders as well. Now I'm pretty sure im not going to be putting it back on but wanted to see if anyone has a picture of it just curious to see what It might have looked like.

Is it on one side only? Truck could have been in a wreck when new.

I have seen stepsides with the lower molding (but nothing on the bed, it was only the cab,/front fenders) but I don't recall ever seeing one with upper and lower, let alone upper only, I don't think you could get the upper only one 69-72, I think it was lower only or both.

Passenger side was replaced, driver side to me looks 100% original, that's where it's found it, it couldn't be too wide of a molding possibly an inch or so big, I figured it was a donor door and fender but the spid confirms the molding.
I don't know if this was just a strange truck or what haha!

On a stepside the molding is only on the cab. None on the bed.
