On the road again
 

I finally got the ole truck up and running/driving again. I bought it a couple of months ago. Rebuilt the steering column, rebuilt the old quadrajet, installed 3" DJM spindles, cut 1 coil off stock springs, Flip kit, wheel/tires, alignment, tint, and found some chrome mirrors. The hardest part of it all was finding a shifter lever for the "3 on the tree" column. Got it from the alignment shop yesterday evening and took it for a little test drive. Everything seems to be pretty good so far. I still have a few little things here and there to do, and to get rid of the God awful rear bumper. I think another inch or two lower in the rear would look a little better, but I still want just a little rake to it. Here she is the day I picked her up, then with the drop, and then how she sits today.

Looks real good. Do you plan on taking it out to Sonic in Dayton some Sat night in the future?

WOW that is a ugly a*s bumper. Never seen one even close to that. Not to mention that the ends that attach to the stepside fenders do absolutely nothing(maybe just protect?).

Nice looking truck though!

I'll probably make one of the Sonic meets before long. The rear bumper was a FFA project for the original owners son back in the late 80's. I only left it on this long to move the truck around when I needed to. It will more than likely disapper this weekend, if I get a chance. Need to find a sport bumper and the mounting brackets. The truck is all original except for the spindles and filp kit. Other than a little surface rust on the roof and tops of the fenders, there is no rust spots on or under the truck. The interior is nice and not all hacked up like a lot of them I've seen. Even the dash is still in nice condition. 64,500 original miles on the V6.

Well, this didn't last long. I've put roughly 100 miles on the truck in the last week. Found out I defiantly need new shocks and to get rid of the glass pack that the PO put on it. Got rid of the rear pipe bumper and scored a front sway bar from a suburban this morning. Now it looks like the front oil seal let go. I had a buddy of mine that owns a wrecker service haul it home for me. I've never replaced the seals in a motor before, so I guess I'll be reading up on that. The truck feels like it is going to be a lot of fun once the shocks and sway bar are on it.

Good job on getting rid of that god awful bumper! Did they drill holes into the rear fenders for the bumper bracket? I hope not!

If you can rebuild a Quadrajet you can do a front seal. Pull the radiator so you have more room to work.

Oh, they drilled holes in the fenders.
At least with this being a V6, I should have plenty of room.

Trucks looking good with the drop and wheels, what's the wheel/tire comb?

One nice thing with the V6, is all the extra room in front of the motor to work with if you got to put in a new crank seal.

The wheels are B&G Rodworks- Old Schools 20X8.5 with 5" BS and 245/40/20 in the front and 20X9.5 with 5.22" BS and 275/45/20 in the rear. The only problem I have with rubbing in the front, so far, I believe is due to the shocks be completely wore out. The front end bounces pretty bad and lets the tire rub a little on the top of the inner fender. New shocks and the front sway bar I picked up yesterday should remedy that. Still need to go down another 2" in the rear, but I wanted to wait till the wheels and tires were on it see just how it was going to sit with just the flip kit.
