86 K10 Summer Project

I haven't been on here in quite awhile. Here's a truck I've been building in my spare time for a friend of mine.
86 K10. Had a clapped out 350 in it when it showed up. 700r4 trans. 6 inch suspension lift I believe. Plenty of rust of course.

Rockers and cab corners didn't look too bad when I started, until I peeled off the patch panels that were riveted on...

All the junk cut off the passenger side. Surprisingly the cab supports are all still good.

Inners all welded in. The inner rocker didn't come front far enough to cover the end of the cab support, so I had to make that piece. Didn't take any pics of it.

Passenger side rocker tacked in place. Took some massaging to get it to line up right with the inner cab corner.

Passenger side cab corner all tacked in. I guess they make the cab corners to slip over the existing corner. I had to cut about a quarter inch section from the front of the new corner and weld it back together. Turned out much nicer than I was expecting

Driver side was even worse than the passenger side. Kick panels were rotted out on both sides. Made up patch panels to fix them.

Outside of the floor was gone on the driver side too.

Rust cut out of right side kick panel and my amateur patch panel. The driver side was more of the same, except I made it out of two pieces instead of one.

Floor patch on driver side. Going to have the floor and underneath the cab done in bed liner so it doesn't have to look perfect

Driver side inner rocker all tacked in. Can see all the patching I had to do to fix the outside edge of the floor. I trimmed up that ugly piece over the cab support once I had the outer rocker on.

The engine in this thing leaked more oil than the Exxon Valdez.

Luckily I keep several parts trucks on hand at all times. My old plow truck donated the pieces to fix the firewall

And here's the fix. Fresh 406 small block. I don't know all the specs other than it's got an edelbrock performer intake, Holley carb, and a comp mutha thumpr cam. The trucks owner dropped it off and said stick it in there. Gonna run the original 700r4 with a higher stall converter. I'm predicting it won't last long...

Cleaned up and painted the firewall and rad support. Scraped off what undercoating I could. Owner didn't want to spend the time to get it all off.

Engine is all buttoned up. Put eBay long tube headers on it. I had to dent in the front tube to clear the motor mount on the driver side.

Swapped out the hacked up wiring harness also. Still have brush some paint on the frame.

I really hate that little air cleaner...
