Re: tires?
I assume this is on your '72 C10? Is it a fleetside or stepside?

Re: tires?
I have 295/50's with a 5" drop on my step side. 15X10's with 5" b.s. I have enough room to fit my fist between sidewall and bed side. I could use about 1/4"-1/2" more back space, the sidewall barely rubs the fender lip when its loaded down.

Re: tires?
I have a 31x14.5 on a stepside. Side wall to side wall is about 17inches. Not a whole lot of room side to side . This would probably be the biggest you could fit with stock sheetmetal and frame. The bed is raised an inch on the frame, and the fenders are moved up an inch on the bed box. The frame at ride heigth is 6". Wheel is a 15x14. The tire diameter helps with the footprint of the tire as well as width. A 30'' is probably where I will go next round on tires but if this does notb give me problems I am ok with the smaller tire.

Re: tires?
I just don't see how a tire that large will fit inside a stock stepside wheel well.

wheel opening is stock, bed box is cut for a tub. It took alot of measuring to figure rear end width axle location . Basically the rear end and bed had to be made to work. Moving the bed up on the frame and moving the fenders up on the box gains over 2 inches to the top of the tire. My axles are actually a little on the short side so I have room to space the wheel out some. The cuts in my fenders are to bring the body line back down after moving the fender up. There was 1 inch added to bring the line down and the step line up angain.

Re: tires?
sorry did not see stock rear end housing in original post. I dont think mine is much narrower than a stock rear end.
