First Generation "Stretch Model" K/5?
Was a 115" WB Blazer or Jimmy ever factory produced?
A friend -- originally from Detroit -- says he remembers seeing a longer "Cheyenne" Blazer, back in the day. |
Re: First Generation "Stretch Model" K/5?
Yes! It's called a Suburban!
All kidding aside, if your friend is remembering correctly it would have been a custom vehicle. |

I can't say that I've never seen one either. I think I saw one in front of an electrical supply store once or twice in the '90s. It looked like he had spliced a Blazer front half with a shortbed fleetside back half on a shortbed frame. [115 ''] It was seamless. And the top was white fibreglas, but it had a cruiser-van style round porthole nearest the back hatch, then about 8'' - 12'' white fiberglas and then a normal-sized rhomboid side window with sliding glass. Must've been a doublewall joined to an aftermarket pop-top for a fleetside. A lot of custom work... but if you've got more time than money and parts are cheap, go to town. Quote:

There are some very talented people among us, who will cut it up and make it cool. (Quote from Greg) ( Photo from Drew)

Re: First Generation "Stretch Model" K/5?
I'd say that's a Suburban with the top cut off rather than a stretched Blazer.
Not that it couldn't be done, but if you look at the third door and the angle of the tailgate, I'm pretty sure it's a Burb. |
Re: First Generation "Stretch Model" K/5?
That's either a Sublazer or a Blazurban.

When we came out with the Cadillac version of the Avalanche my suggestion for the name was "Escalanche". I think you can see how successful that suggestion was… K |
