Forward fuel line mounting clip
The forward section of fuel line on my truck runs from the front of the engine to a point near the rear of the cab. It's routed inside the frame rail.
There are two points where the fuel line is attached to the frame: one under the cab, one in the engine compartment. At both points it's attached with clips that poke through the frame with a spring loaded "M". Squeeze the "M" and pop it through the frame to remove it. Simple. Except the one in the engine compartment is directly opposite my front suspension. Assuming it pokes through the frame, there is no access point that I can see in order the squeeze the "M". Question is: what's the best way to remove that front mounting clip? |
Re: Forward fuel line mounting clip
I just encountered that blasted clip the other day and after a few minutes of fighting with it I lost all patience and ripped it out with a pair of diagonal cutters!
I'll figure out a replacement clip later. |
Re: Forward fuel line mounting clip
I've come to the conclusion that the "M" part of the clip is a one time only thing "install"
Pretty sure the factory used a punch to spread the "M" to hold the clip in . Most of mine broke up when I took them out , and the ones that didn't I wouldn't trust to stay in if I reused them. The brake lines have the same style of clip. Like Kenfuzed did , rip it out ! And yes like Ken , I'll be figuring that one out later T |
Re: Forward fuel line mounting clip
Thanks gents. I was figuring rip'em out was probably what I'd have to do.

Re: Forward fuel line mounting clip
Just reviving an old thread here. I think these gents are talking about 60'-66'. My 1970 has 2 of those "M" clips most forward, back 3 are pop in style. I've came to the conclusion that the second most forward one, behind the upper control arm, is going to have to get ripped out, with no access to the outside to squeeze the clip in. Without dropping the cross member, how would you install a new clip, or are most guys just omitting that location?
