1968 GMC P-10 Ice Cream Truck
1 Attachment(s)
Starting a thread for my p-10 that I got about a month ago. It was last used as an ice cream truck. My plans are to make it into a cool ice cream truck low rider. So far I'm really liking the style of these and how different they are.

I think the previous owners had a freezer right behind the drivers seat. The c channel under the floor and the floor were rotted badly.

I picked up a steering column from the junk yard, mine was trash. It is a mid 70's column. The previous owner changed the transmission to an auto. All I had to do to make it work was change the steering linkage to the steering box.

Nearly finished with the floor today. I had to make up a few new floor supports for the section over the transmission.

I got my new seat and pedastal installed today. It's been nice taking a break from paint striping.

Re: 1968 GMC P-10 Ice Cream Truck
Question for any P-10 owners, have any of you upgraded to power brakes? I'm curious how the booster fits.
Also, has anyone put in a small block? Seems like the drivers side would be too tight. |
Re: 1968 GMC P-10 Ice Cream Truck
ok ill post some pics..... regarding boosters,i not that far yet but ill keep you updated when i get there.

My plans are to rat rod it out.... bag it,rust patina her out and 18in powdercoated wheels. I love the 6 lugs and real don't want 5 lugs. Add a passenger seat, custom gauges and diamond plate most everything out.....

Re: 1968 GMC P-10 Ice Cream Truck
I'm looking to do an air bag set up on mine. I am looking at ekstensive metal works, they have a dual compressor kit for about 1700. I don't think I'll C-notch it. I want to get as low as I can and keep the floor the same.
Any suggestions? |
