Blazer fuel tank in C10
I have been looking at different options for a fuel tank for the rear of my 1971 C10 long bed. On a 72 I used a 67-72 blazer tank and did not like how it fit, and how much it hung down. I was thinking about getting a tank from boyd welding but that tank is $350 and is only 19 gal and my truck is a daily driver and my round trip drive is 80 miles a day. I also plan to later go to after market fuel injection or a LS engine so I want a tank that I can easily install a in tank fuel pump. So now I am looking at the 1987 Blazer tank. It is 25 gal and it looks like it will fit.
Any one use this tank? Also does any one know what sending unit will fit the tank that is not a sending unit with a fuel pump? The hope here is to just be able to change sending units and add the fuel pump if/when I go to fuel injection. It looks like it will be tight behind the bumper, will a hidden hitch still fit? |
Re: Blazer fuel tank in C10
I am running this tank on mine and using the stock in-tank pump from the '91 Blazer I got my engine from. I can't speak for the hidden hitch, but I should be able to run a standard frame-mount hitch when I'm done.

Re: Blazer fuel tank in C10
The square body tanks work well but typically stick up a little from what I have seen which requires some trimming of the cross braces on the bed floor. No big deal just a little bit of work is all. I can't remember the exact specs but you may even consider the 31 gallon

Just found this thread need a fuel tank for my suburban are you using a small blazer tank or full sized tank?

Re: Blazer fuel tank in C10
That would be the full sized Blazer. The pump for the later injected motors is EP381

Re: Blazer fuel tank in C10
I have one in my 67 , with a ls up front , keep the old sender and ad a airteck silverado pump , you have to cut the top of the tank to accept the new pump and fabricate a hold down ring , jeep grand cherokee tanks also have been used , the hardest part is the location and addition of a new fuel fill , most put them in the floor of the bed , its easy but has disadvatages , check out ls1tech's website , and the ls specific page on this site , lmc sells a suburban tank modification kit

Re: Blazer fuel tank in C10
How can you tell the difference between the 25 and 31 gallon tanks?
Can this be done without dropping it from the donor blazer? Posted via Mobile Device |
