P0342 scan code Camshaft Position Sensor?
Hey y'all,
First off, i'm talking about my 2002 Chevy 2500HD with the 8.1 / Allison Setup. has brand new iridium plugs and 10.4mm Taylor cables installed about 3500 miles ago. About a week ago, I woke up early and drove into work. Stopped at the gas station on the way in to work, and when I got back into the truck, it didn't start on the first try like it normally always does. I waited a second or 2 then cranked it over and it fired up and drove fine to work which was about a mile from where the gas station was. I have a scan tool in the truck, and it threw the P0342 Code indicating low voltage condition for the cam position sensor. I have looked all over the place and they are hard to source, but i've done some reading that leads me to believe that it could be the Crank Position Sensor causing the problem. Has anyone had any experience with this that can give me some advice? The no-start thing has only happened 2 or 3 times total in the past week, and hasn't left me stranded. But when i was driving to work this morning, the Check engine light was still on, and as i was coming to a stop sign at the end of my dirt road, and when i went to give it gas, it acted like it wanted to stall...i put a little more weight in my foot and it gave in to me and drove fine. Thanks in advance fellas, Jack |
Re: P0342 scan code Camshaft Position Sensor?
Wow!! I have had that happen a couple times after tuning-up 8.1L's, A Cam Sensor fixed it both times, Had to eat it both times as well...For Customer relations and all.
For all the Crank Sensor issues they have, I thought my cases was isolated;) |

So since everyone seems to be out of these sensors, would you know where I can get one?
