I put one on my rig about a month ago. I've never had one before, so I can't really compare. But so far, I couldn't be happier.
As you've probably already figured out, there's not a lot of options for our trucks. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and this certainly fit the bill. It fits well and looks good IMO. Realtruck.com (and probably a few others) ran a special over Labor Day and I was able to save another $25 and get free shipping. All told, I think it was $228. It arrived in about three days. I'm getting my truck ready for paint so it's probably like putting lipstick on a pig, but I decided to go ahead an install it rather than have it take up space in the garage. Directions were very straightforward and it took 30 minutes to install. |
Re: Extang BlackMax Tonneau Cover
Extang has one issue that is evident on all of their covers, that are not a trifold design. The corner pieces will fatique and break. They are warranteed, (Which means FREE) so do not go into a flail. Just think ahead and give them the design of your cover and part number and order spares. I still extras from my Extang cover in my storage cabinet in my garage. Since my son still has an Extang, we keep them around. It is worth the effort.
Other wise the covers are worth their money, especially with the warranty. Over the years, I even had them replace the vinyl on one truck, it just under the warranty expiration date for the cover itself. The rest of the parts are LIFETIME Warranty. Call now and get parts on hand! |
Re: Extang BlackMax Tonneau Cover
I have had one of these on my S-10 shortbed for about 12 years...still looks decent.
Does any company make a tonneau cover for a 72 shortbed stepside ? |
Re: Extang BlackMax Tonneau Cover
This one on ebay says short bed narrow dunno if they mean step side or fleet. Would have to ask them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280859160210...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Re: Extang BlackMax Tonneau Cover
I went to my local truck accessory dealer where I get stuff for my Tundra. They said Truxedo and Extang both make covers for our trucks. I wanted a rollup type like I have on the Tundra that doesn't use the snaps. Extang uses the snaps. I had one like that before and hated it. Truxedo has the LO-Pro that they make for our trucks. It was not stocked, so it was something like 4-6 weeks delivery.
