Leveling kit

So I have been doing some intensive research into leveling kits for my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 and was looking for suggestions. I saw there are two basic differences. One requires some cutting of bolts around the struts, and the other is a spacer at the top if the coil. Anyone have any suggestions or preferences?

what type of cab? What drive train? (2 or 4 wd) I believe those kit would raise front to be more even with rear. I would remove spacer between rear spring and axle to lower rear end a couple inches. U bolts may have enough treads to allow removal. If not may need different U-bolts. Not much money and they sit too high anyway for me but depends if 4 wd and how important ground clearance may be.

Re: Leveling kit

There are two types of levelling kits for these trucks, one that puts a spacer below the strut, and one that puts a spacer both below and above the strut. The first kind is the easiest and cheapest to install, but it usually limited to 2". The second kind requires removing the strut, so it's a little more work (there for money to have it installed) and they go up to 3". I don't recommend going over 2.5", any higher and your angles are at to much of an angle and cause premature wear on parts… There are some kits the put spacers in the coils, but they are really expensive to install and they cause a much stiffer ride and don't lift all that much…
I installed a 2" kit in my 2014, very easy and didn't change the ride that much…

So I've decided to go with a skyjacker 2" kit. It just arrived today so I will post pictures once it's installed

Just remember to get it aligned after you install the spacer. even a 1/4" lift will throw off your alignment…

Re: Leveling kit

I used Rancho's leveling struts on mine 2008 GMC CCSB Z71. They are 1.5 inch leveling. Truck sits perfect. If anyone is interested in these, I can dig up the part numbers for them.

For these, you get the strut assembly and use the factory strut coil when you install them. No spacers are used.
