1965 Key or Keys question
The previous owner of my 1965 C-10 misplaced the keys to the truck and can't find them.
I removed the drivers door handle and lock cylinder and got the 4 digit (8000 series) code off the cylinder. My question is, is the ignition switch keyed the same as the doors? Both of my doors have key locks because of the custom cab option. Thanks in advance, Dan |
Re: 1965 Key or Keys question

Re: 1965 Key or Keys question
It's been my experience (having owned 20 something Chevy's) that the door(s) and ignition use the same key, and the glove box is the oddball.

Re: 1965 Key or Keys question
My all original 65 also uses the same key for ign and both doors. Came with pass side keyed handle.

Re: 1965 Key or Keys question
My 66 custom camper driver's door key is the same as the ignition. No key on passenger door. No key on glove box.

Re: 1965 Key or Keys question
My '66 is the same key for the doors and the ignition.
It's funny though, my key works in both the doors and ignition of my dad's '66 GMC as well, but his does not work on mine. |
Re: 1965 Key or Keys question
I Bought a nice set from LockDoc in the parts sections of this forum,
My custom cab had both doors and ignition the same with no lock on glove. Here is a good thread on key codes from Lockdoc. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=630654 |
